Changes to the kerbside waste and recycling service
During 2017 the mixed recycling service will be introduced to all households in Aberdeen. All waste and recycling collection routes will change from 6 March 2017. You will soon receive your new collection calendar. Please check it carefully as your collection day may have changed.
Your mixed recycling bin
Your current general waste bin will become your mixed recycling bin. We will put a sticker on your general waste bin to swap it over to a mixed recycling bin. You can then use it to recycle paper and cardboard, glass, plastic, and metals. All recyclable materials can go into this bin mixed together.
- Find out more about How to use the kerbside mixed recycling service, including what you can and cannot recycle.
- Check your collection days on the Household Waste Collection Calendar.
Once you have your new bin, your kerbside box and bag will no longer be emptied. You can keep these containers and use them as storage or you can return them to your nearest Household Waste Recycling Centre where they will be offered to others who can use them.
Delivery of your new general waste bin
We will deliver a new, slightly smaller general waste bin for waste that cannot be recycled. As you will now be able to recycle more materials, you will have less general waste. Deliveries will start on 27 February and will take around 11 weeks. If you have not received your new general waste bin and information leaflet by 15 May then please Contact the Waste and Recycling Team.
Please note that due to the method of delivery, it is possible that some streets in an area will get their new bins but neighbouring streets may not get theirs until some days or weeks later. Please continue to use your existing bins and containers until you receive your new bin.
