Road Closures in the City Centre

Street Description Start and End Date Diversion
Mealmarket Street

From West North Street to the access road at Mealmarket Exchange and is for public safety during heating duct works.

Access to Mealmarket Street will be maintained from King Street to left turning vehicles only.

The closure shall take place from Monday the 9th of January, 2012 for up to four weeks
Charlotte Street Closed between its junction with Craigie Street and the access to Charlotte Apartments. This is necessary to protect public safety during water, sewer and electric supply connections to an adjacent development. There shall also be a prohibition of waiting within the above area, except for vehicles used in connection with the works.

9 January 2012, for four weeks

An alternative route will be available via Maberly Street, George Street, St Andrew Street. 

Frederick Street

From its junction with King Street to its junction with Park Street. 

The existing one-way restriction on Frederick Street will be temporarily suspended.  Prohibition of right turn manoeuvres from King Street into Frederick Street.

Not all the road will be closed or subject to the ban on parking at the same time.  Access to Frederick Street will be maintained from King Street.  However, right turns into Frederick Street from northbound traffic on King Street will not be permitted.

Monday 9th January 2012 for up to 3 weeks.  
Constitution Street Closed between its junction with Park Street and its junction with Links Road.  Access to properties will be maintained, but no through traffic will be possible. There will also be a temporary prohibition of waiting at any time on both sides of the full length of Constitution Street.  The no waiting restriction will not be applied for the full length of the road at any one time and will be demarcated by the use of no-waiting cones. The restrictions in the interests of public safety during heating duct works.

Friday the 20th of January, 2012, until Friday the 16th of March, 2012

An alternative route is available via Park Street, Beach Boulevard and Links Road.

Belmont Street, Little Belmont Street and Gaelic Lane 

Closed at regular intervals throughout 2012. The closures are for public safety during the Country Fair & Street Market between the hours of 0600 – 1900 on the last Saturday of each month between now and June.

To facilitate the closure of Belmont Street effectively and for safety reasons it will be necessary to include the closure of Little Belmont Street and Gaelic Lane from Back Wynd to Belmont Street.

Access will only be permitted into Little Belmont Street for badge holders and deliveries.
Shiprow

Closed from its junction with Shore Brae to its junction with Market Street. Access to properties will be maintained but no through traffic will be possible. The closure is in the interests of public safety during crane lifting works for a new development.

12 December 2011, until 30 January 2012
Park Street

PARK STREET, from Justice Port car park access road to THE Beach Boulevard Roundabout.  Also, CONSTITUTION STREET, from Links Road to Park Street.

These measures are necessary to protect public safety during heating duct works.

Access to properties will be maintained, but no through traffic will be possible. An alternative route during the Park Street closure is available via Constitution Street, Links Road and the Beach Boulevard. 

The no waiting restriction on Constitution Street will not be applied for the full length of the road at any one time and will be demarcated by the use of no-waiting cones.

The Park Street closure shall take place from Monday the 16th of January, 2012 for up to one week.  The Constitution Street closure and no waiting restriction shall take place from Friday the 20th of January, 2012 until Friday the 16th of March, 2012.  

An alternative route during the Constitution Street closure is available via Park Street, Beach Boulevard and Links Road.

 

St. Cathrine's Wynd

ST CATHERINE'S WYND, from Netherkirkgate to Union Street. NETHERKIRKGATE, from 24 Netherkirkgate to St Catherine's Wynd.

Suspension of the existing one-way system on ST CATHERINE'S WYND to allow access and egress for vehicles unloading and loading.

The St Catherine's Wynd closure is an extension to existing temporary traffic order 3919 and shall be enforced until Sunday the 5th of February, 2012. The Netherkirkgate closure shall take place from Monday the 16th of January, 2012 until Sunday the 5th of February, 2012. Both closures are in the interests of public safety during construction works.

An alternative route is available via Flourmill Lane, Upperkirkgate and Broad Street.
Gray Street

Closed between its junctions with Great Western Road and Broomhill Road. Also, there will be a temporary prohibition of waiting at any time on the same length of the road. The measures are necessary to protect public safety during tree removal and footway renewal works.

16 January 2912, three weeks 

An alternative route will be available via Great Western Road, South Anderson Drive, Broomhill Road.  

Littlejohn Street There will be a temporary prohibition of right turns into West North Street .   The measure is necessary to protect public safety during heating duct works. Until the 5th of February, 2012

The diversion route is a left turn into West North Street, Mounthooly Roundabout, West North Street. 

Albert Street Closed between its junction with Whitehall Place and its junction with Albert Place. There will also be a prohibition of waiting at any time on the above area and on the south side of Whitehall Place between Albert Street and Esslemont Avenue. The measures are necessary to protect public safety during water main repair works. Monday 16 January 2012 for up to two weeks

An alternative route shall be available via Carden Place, Skene Street, Esslemont Avenue, Whitehall Place or vice versa.
