Where can I use my contractor parking permit?

  • Contractors' permits allow the permit holder to park in any on–street pay & display, permit and voucher bays in Aberdeen City, in all zones. Permits cannot be used in any 45-minute zones or for parking on single or double yellow lines. The permit is not valid in any of Aberdeen City Council's off-street pay & display car parks.

How do I renew my contractor parking permit?

  • You can renew your permit(s) by post by sending in your request by letter and correct payment by cheque to Traffic Management, Planning and Infrastructure, PO Box 1050, Aberdeen AB12 9EW. You will need to include in your application the 'Contractor's Permit – Approved Registration' letter.
  • Or you can make a renewal application in person at the Marischal College Customer Service Centre, Broad Street, AB10 1AB, Aberdeen, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm. You will need to bring in your 'Contractor's Permit – Approved Registration' letter issued by Traffic Management as evidence that you are on the Registered Contractors' List. You will also need to pay for your permit at the same time. Please see 'How can I get a contractor parking permit?' for further information.

Can I get a refund for my parking permit?

  • No refunds are given on parking permits.

How can I get a contractor parking permit?

  • First time applicants must apply to be placed on the Registered Contractors' list by sending in a completed Contractors Parking Permit Application Form to Traffic Management,Planning and Infrastructure, PO Box 1050, Aberdeen AB12 9EW. You will also need to send in a cheque for payment at this time.

How do I find out if I am eligible for a contractor parking permit?

Trades eligible for a Contractor's Permit are:

  • Bathroom fitting
  • Building
  • Carpentry
  • Carpet fitting
  • Electrical installation and gas maintenance
  • Insulation installation
  • Joinery
  • Kitchen fitting
  • Masonry
  • Painting
  • Painting & Decorating
  • Plumbing
  • Roofing
  • Tiling
  • Window fitting

If your trade is not on this list you will need to write to Traffic Management, Planning and Infrastructure, PO Box 1050, Aberdeen AB12 9EW, and ask to be considered for inclusion in the Registered Contractor's list. They will then be in touch with you with their decision.

How long does it take to get a contractor parking permit?

  • If applying by post you need to allow at least 10 days for your application to be processed and for your permit to be sent to you. Permit renewals made in person at the Marischal College Customer Service Centre, Broad Street, AB10 1AB, Aberdeen, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm are processed and issued immediately.
    Please note, you cannot get a first permit from the Marischal College Customer Service Centre.

I'm doing several jobs in various parts of the city; can I get one permit to cover all zones?

  • A Contractor's Permit allows the permit holder to use their permit in all Aberdeen City controlled parking zones.

    The vehicle must be a passenger or lights goods vehicle weighing less than 3.5 tonnes and designed for 8 passengers or less (driver excluded).

Can I get a contractor parking permit for a minibus / campervan / truck / caravan?

  • No.

I have a low emission (less than 100g/km of CO2) / electric car, can I get a discount on my contractor parking permit?

  • No.
