What parking zone am I in?

How are parking zones set?

  • Parking zones are proposed by Aberdeen City Council and are always approved by a Committee of elected Councillors.

Where can I use my business parking permit?

  • You can use your business parking permit in residents only, pay & display, ticket zone and voucher parking bays within your zone only, where without a business parking permit you would need to buy a ticket and display this in your car. Parking permits are not valid in 45-minute parking bays, for parking on single/double yellow or in places with any other type of parking restrictions e.g. loading only bays.

Are any discounts available for business parking permits?

  • No discounts are available for business parking permits.

Can I get a refund for my parking permit?

  • No refunds are given on permits no longer required. If you no longer need your permit and it is still valid, please return it in person or by post to the Aberdeen City Council Customer Service Centre, Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen AB10 1AB (open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm).

How much does a business parking permit cost?

The cost of business parking permits depends on the length of time the permit is required for.

  • In Zones A-G, a fixed permit costs: 500 for 12 months; 260 for 6 months; and 135 for 3 months.
  • In ALL OTHER ZONES, a first permit costs: 500 for 12 months; 260 for 6 months; and 135 for 3 months.
    A second permit costs: 500 for 12 months; 260 for 6 months; and 135 for 3 months.

How do I find out if I am eligible for a business parking permit?

What proof do I need to show in order to get a business parking permit?

Please refer to the Business Parking Permit Guidance Notes  for information on what proofs you will have to present. Without the required proofs a permit cannot be issued.

Can I have a residential and a business parking permit for the same address?

  • No.

Can business permits be shared across cars?

  • You can only use a flexible permit on multiple cars. A fixed permit only allows the permit to be used on a single car as the permit is registration number specific. Please note you will not be eligible for a business permit if the permit is to be used solely to facilitate the journey to and from work, i.e. for commuting purposes.

Can I get a business parking permit for a lease / company / hire car?

Can I get a business parking permit for a minibus / campervan / truck / caravan?

  • No. A business parking permit is only available for passenger and light goods vehicles weighing less than 3.5 tonnes and with a passenger capacity of 8 and under (driver excluded).

I have a low emission (less than 100g/km of CO2) / electric car; can I get a discount on my business parking permit?

  • No.

I have a motorcycle / scooter; do I need a business parking permit?

  • No.

What happens if the business address changes while the business parking permit is still valid?

  • The original permit must be returned prior to further permits being issued unless you have moved within the same parking zone.
  • Business Parking Permit Change of Address Form must be completed in all cases.
  • The old permit will be cancelled and a new one will be issued with the same expiry date as the old one. A 10 administration fee will be levied. There is no administration fee if you move within the same zone.
  • If you are moving to an area outside the controlled parking zones you must return your permit to Aberdeen City Council either by post or in person to the Aberdeen City Council Customer Service Centre, Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen AB10 1AB (open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm).

What happens if the business changes its car or vehicle registration while the business parking permit is still valid?

I have a foreign registered vehicle; am I eligible for a business parking permit?

  • No. A vehicle must be registered with the DVLA in order to be eligible for a business parking permit.

How can I get a business parking permit?

  • You can apply either by post or in person at the Aberdeen City Council Customer Service Centre, Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen AB10 1AB (open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm). You will need to bring or send in a completed Business Parking Permit Application Form as well as the correct payment and any required proofs of address and entitlement.
  • If applying in person and provided you have all the required proof (please refer to the  Business Parking Permit Guidance Notes for information on what proofs you will be required to present) and payment your permit(s) will be issued to you immediately.
  • If applying by post, the permit will normally be processed and dispatched on the same day as the application is received; however, this may not always be possible. You need to allow at least 10 days for your application to be processed and posted. If you have supplied us with an email address in your application form, we will email to inform you that your permit has been dispatched. If you require a permit urgently, please apply for it in person.
  • Please note, Aberdeen City Council cannot be held responsible for undelivered or lost mail once your permit has been posted by Aberdeen City Council.
  • Please also note, when applying by post, do not send in cash; send in a cheque instead.

How long does it take to get a business parking permit?

  • If applying in person at Aberdeen City Council Customer Service Centre, Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen AB10 1AB, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, and provided you have all the required proof (please refer to the Business Parking Permit Guidance Notes for information on what proofs you will have to present) and payment your permit(s) will be issued to you immediately.
  • If applying by post to Aberdeen City Council Customer Service Centre, Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen AB10 1AB, the permit will normally be processed and dispatched on the same day as the application is received; however, this may not always be possible. How do I renew my business parking permit?

  • Aberdeen City Council no longer issue permit renewal reminder letters to permit holders.  You can now renew your parking permit online using the Parking Permit Renewal online form.  You can also renew your parking permit by post or in person at Aberdeen City Council, Customer Service Centre, Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen, AB10 1AB, open Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm.  Postal applications should be sent to this address.  Applications can be downloaded from the Aberdeen City Council web-site using the following link.

How long does a business parking permit last?

  • Business parking permits are available for 3, 6 and 12 months at a time in all zones. For costs, please refer to the 'How much does a business parking permit cost?' question.

Lost or damaged permits

What do I do if I've lost my parking permit?

  • This depends on whether this is the first time within one calendar year that you have lost your permit and whether your lost permit is fixed or flexible.
  • If the lost permit is a fixed permit, you must fill in the Replacement Business Parking Permit Application Form and bring this in or post it to Aberdeen City Council Customer Service Centre, Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen AB10 1AB, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm along with required proof of business address (please refer to the Business Parking Permit Guidance Notes for information on what proofs you will have to present). You do not need to provide proof of vehicle registration. Your old permit will be cancelled and a new one issued. A 10 administration fee will be levied.
  • If the lost permit is a flexible one you must fill in the Replacement Business Parking Permit Application Form and bring this in or post it to Aberdeen City Council Customer Service Centre, Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen AB10 1AB, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm along with required proof of business address and vehicle registration (please refer to the Business Parking Permit Guidance Notes for proofs required). .
  • If it is the first lost / damaged permit within one calendar year the permit will be replaced at proportionate cost. i.e. you will need to pay for half of the original full amount.
  • If you have lost your permit a second time within one calendar year, you will have to buy a new permit at full cost of the original lost permit.

What do I do if I've damaged or had my permit stolen?

  • You will need to provide proof of the damage by presenting relevant insurance documentation. If stolen, you will need to provide a crime reference number. Under no circumstances, will a flexible permit be replaced without the necessary proof of damage or theft. A 10 administration fee will be levied for replacement permits. This administration fee applies in all zones.

Is there a charge for re-issuing lost or damaged permits?

  • There is a 10 administration fee for the re-issuing of a stolen or damaged business parking permit. This applies to all replacement permits in all zones.
