Aberdeen City Council TaxiCard
TaxiCard offers reduced fare taxi travel for people who cannot use conventional bus services because of a severe disability or infirmity.
A TaxiCard entitles the cardholder to 104 single journeys within a 6 month period. Journeys can only be made within Aberdeen City only.
TaxiCards are issued free of charge and are valid for up to 3 years from the date of issue.
Can I apply for a TaxiCard?
You may be eligible if you are permanently resident in Aberdeen City for at least 32 weeks every year and you fall into one of the following categories:
- you receive War Pensions Mobility Supplement;
- you are registered blind;
- you receive Lower Mobility rate Disability Living Allowance;
- you are over 65 years of age and you have a severe and permanent disability which prevents you from using conventional bus services;
- you are precluded from Higher Mobility rate Disability Living Allowance because you are permanently in long stay hospital/residential accommodation.
Persons with a temporary disability and children under the age of 3 are not eligible.

What fares discount is available?
TaxiCard fares, which are payable to the driver, are based on the following metered fares:
- for journeys costing up to £4.00 – the TaxiCard holder pays £ 2.50
- for journeys costing £4.01 - £6.00 – the TaxiCard holder pays £3.50
- for journeys costing £6.01 - £9.00 – the TaxiCard holder pays £5.50
- for journeys costing £9.01 - £12.00 – the TaxiCard holder pays £8.50
- for journeys costing £12.01 - £15.00 – the TaxiCard holder pays £11.50
For all journeys where the metered fare is over £15.00, the Council pays £4.00 (minus companion(s)) and the cardholder pays the remainder.
Up to three companions are entitled to travel with the TaxiCard holder, at an additional flat fare of 50p, which is payable to the driver.
