What the Community Training Unit offers
The Community Training Unit is an accredited training centre offering a range of work based qualifications.
Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)
- ILM Award Level 3 in First Line Management
- ILM Certificate Level 3 in First Line Management
- ILM Diploma Level 3 in First Line Management
This is a series of progression awards aimed at first line managers. These awards have two objectives:
- to assist participants in gaining the basic knowledge required by a Manager; and
- to develop basic management skills.
Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) qualifications
Business Administration:
- Level 2
- Level 3
- Modern Apprenticeship
Customer service:
- Level 2
- Level 3
- Modern Apprenticeship
Scottish Vocational Qualifications (S.V.Qs') are nationally recognised qualifications and are based on defined standards of competence for doing the job. Management SVQs' at all levels require candidates to demonstrate that they are competent in managing work activities, resources, people and information. To show that they are competent, evidence is collected from work based activities.
- Management SVQ - Level 3
- Management SVQ - Level 4
A1 Assessor award
This award is aimed at people who will act as the main assessor for S.V.Q candidates.
- V1 Verifiers award - this is for internal verifiers within a centre that is providing S.V.Q.s.

City and Guilds
This section deals with the management of Work Experience Placements.
This qualification is aimed at those people who are working as monitors/co-ordinators in the provision of Work Experience placements.
