Model based estimates of unemployment in Aberdeen City financial year 2012/13 to 2016/17

The UK Labour Force Survey is the key source of national information on the labour market; however it is not able to deliver direct estimates of unemployment with adequate precision for every local authority because the sample size in many areas is insufficient. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has explored the use of model-based estimates to improve the estimates of unemployment. The model-based unemployment rate of Aberdeen City is shown in the graph. Between the period of 2012/13 and 2016/17, the unemployment rate in Aberdeen City has increased slightly by 0.3%.
