Number of children looked after by local authority on 31st July 2016

There were 553 children being looked after by Aberdeen City Council at 31st July 2016, with there being more males than females being looked after.  As can be seen in the table, the figures for Aberdeen City are significantly lower than both the City of Edinburgh and Glasgow City.

Referrals to Children's Reporter by age in Aberdeen City, 2016/17

Any child can be referred to the children's reporter.  This system is a safety net for vulnerable children and young people.  Some of the reasons children are referred include not attending school, getting into trouble with the police or being abused/neglected at home.  This table shows that the age group that experienced the highest number of referrals was the 12-15 age band.

This table shows the number of clients who received social care services in Aberdeen City.  As shown in the table the highest client groups are Frail Older People, those with a physical disability and those classed as 'other' which includes people with addictions, palliative care and carers.

Homeless applications to a local authority, 2016

The homelessness figures shown in this table are for the last 3 quarters.  As shown in the graph, the figures for Aberdeen City have remained relatively stable.  However, when the figures are expanded over time a clearer trend will be shown.
