Aberdeen's Winter Festival Christmas Lights Switch On Parade
Join us in celebrating the annual switch on of the city's Christmas lights on Union Street on Sunday 20th November 2011. The Lord Provost will lead a parade along the main thoroughfare, switching on each light as it passes underneath. The Parade starts at 5:30pm
There will be street entertainment from 5.15pm.
Caution: large dogs, explosions, loud music, flashing lights and vehicles will be incorporated into the parade. Please for your safety stay on the pavements to view the parade.
Traffic Management
There will be a number of road closures in and around the event. The road closures will start at 1630hrs (Albyn Place), 1700hrs (Union Street), Bridge street to Union Terrace will be kept open until the parade approaches. Roads will be opened as soon as it is safe, this is expected to be around 6.30pm.
Parade
The Theme for this year's parade will be Victorian or Ye Oldie times, along with music from pipe bands, drumming groups, children's carol singers, local steel band, elves and Santa.
