Self-Directed Support Funding Independence
Self-Directed Support deals with both Direct Payments and the Independent Living Fund (ILF).
If you have been assessed as requiring Community Care services you can opt to receive a Direct Payment. A Direct Payment is a cash payment made to you, instead of receiving traditional council services, so you can purchase services that meet your needs. This means you can have more choice, control and flexibility over how your care needs are met.
The Independent Living Fund (ILF) may also be available to certain individuals. The ILF provides grants to individuals that are then used to purchase care and support aimed at increasing independence. The ILF is central government funded; however you are still required to receive council services.
The Self-Directed Support team can provide more information and support for Direct Payments, ILF and other aspects of Self-Directed Support.
