Joint Commissioning Strategy for Older People 2013-2023

The Joint Commissioning Strategy for Older People in Aberdeen City 2013 -2023 has been developed by Aberdeen City Council and NHS Grampian in partnership with our Voluntary/Third and Independent sector colleagues at ACVO and Scottish Care following a public consultation in 2012. Feedback from the consultation was incorporated into the final strategy.

Our strategy sets our direction for the next ten years to work towards our vision, "to work with you [the people of Aberdeen] to make Aberdeen a great place to grow old and flourish by maximising choice and promoting independence"

Over the next few months our commissioning intentions will be translated into an Implementation Plan in conjunction with our partners.

The strategy includes:

  • An introduction that includes an overview of Aberdeen city, our current services, financial framework and policy context.
"What Older People and their Carers have told us": a summary of our consultation process.
  • "Delivering Outcomes for Older People – Joint Commissioning of Health and Social Care in Aberdeen": the opportunities and challenges we face, common themes and commissioning priorities and intentions.
  • "Best Value – making best use of resources": includes detail around workforce, the housing contribution and alternative delivery models
