Parents as Early Education Partners (PEEP)

Parents as Early Education Partners (PEEP) supports parents and carers as their children's first and most important educators.

The PEEP Project is part of the Family and Community Support Service within Aberdeen City Council and aims to develop and support both universal and targeted services to parents/carers and their children aged from pre- birth to five years.

Citywide groups are delivered by trained PEEP practitioners from across Health, Education, Social Work and the voluntary sector and are held in a variety of community venues.

Individual programmes can be offered to families who are unable to access groups. Short term focused group work can also be offered to support those with an identified need e.g. low mood. These specific programmes are available by referral to peep@aberdeencity.gov.uk

The PEEP Practitioners role is to provide ideas and activities which support children's learning in everyday situations. These include:

  • songs and rhymes
  • stories
  • adult talk time
  • play/craft activities and;
  • opportunities to borrow books and play packs

Some groups also offer parents/carers the opportunity to gain accreditation through Scottish Qualifications Authority for their role in supporting their children's learning.
