Residential Homes for Children

Gilbert Road is a short term crisis and assessment unit for young people of secondary school age who need to be looked after and accommodated.

The Willows, Kincorth and Kingsfield are medium to long term units that provide planned residential care placements.  Many of the young people who transfer there have initially been cared for in Gilbert Road.

There are a range of reasons and circumstances that lead to young people requiring such care eg:

• When family relationships have broken down
• Offending behaviour
• Child protection issues
• Where other residential or foster care placements have broken down or disrupted as a result of a decision of a Children's Hearing
