Adoption and Fostering logo

Aberdeen City Council's Fostering Team are holding a Fostering Information Evening on the 19th June 2013 at the Rox Hotel between 6.30pm and 8.30 pm. This will be an opportunity to find out more about a career in Fostering. You can speak to foster carers and staff and find out more about the children we work with.
We are particularly looking for individuals, couples or families who are interested in working with older children, sibling groups and offering permanent placements. If you have any questions or would like to find out more, please contact the Fostering Team on 01224 264242.

Welcome to Aberdeen City Council’s Fostering and Adoption web pages.  If you are interested in fostering or adoption we hope that you find our web pages helpful.  Please feel free to browse and if you want to request an Information Pack for either fostering or adoption there is a request form at the end which you can submit and we will send one to you.  Alternatively you can phone the office and discuss your interest with a member of staff.

Over the years the commitment of foster carers in Aberdeen has helped provide a safe and happy environment for many children who cannot be cared for by their family.  The demand for foster carers in Aberdeen, as it has throughout Scotland, has grown over the years.  As a result we require carers who can provide children the opportunity to enjoy family life.
There are a range of care options to reflect the different needs of children.  This would include temporary foster carers, those who can provide short term respite, those who can care for babies and young children and those who can care for teenagers.  We also require foster carers who can care for children on a permanent basis.

The following pages will hopefully explain more fully about these different care options and will allow you to consider which would best suit your life and commitments.

Becoming a Foster Carer or Adopting a child  is not for everyone, but it may be for you.  If you are interested in finding out please read on.  If you are still interested after reading this information - give us a call and we will arrange a meeting and have a chat about where we go from here.

Every journey starts with a first step, and for children in Aberdeen in need of a family this step starts here.
