Your Christmas tree can go a long, long way…but only if you remember to recycle it!
It may have lost its festive cheer, but we can use your Christmas tree to make wood chipping and mulch to use in your public parks and gardens. Please help us get it sorted by having your Christmas tree recycled in one of the following ways.
Wheeled bin Kerbside Collections
WEDNESDAY 6th UNTIL TUESDAY 12th JANUARY 2010 ONLY
- Please put trees out with your wheeled bin on your usual refuse collection day.
- As these will be collected by a recycling vehicle the collection times WILL vary from your refuse collections so please be sure to place your bin and tree out for collection by 7:30 on your collection day to avoid disappointment.
- Any trees not collected in the collection times above will have to be collected as a bulky collection which will incur a charge so please be sure to have your trees out at the correct time.
Dyce Pilot Area
WEDNESDAY 6th AND 13th JANUARY 2010 ONLY
- As these will be collected by a recycling vehicle the collection times WILL vary from your refuse collections so please be sure to place your bin and tree out for collection by 7:30 on your collection day to avoid disappointment.
- Any trees not collected in the collection times above will have to be collected as a bulky collection which will incur a charge so please be sure to have your trees out at the correct time.
Residents with Communal Bins (on and off street)

- Please ensure that access space is left for both residents to use bins and collection crews to move bins for emptying.
- As these will be collected by a recycling vehicle the collection times WILL vary from your refuse collections so please be sure to place your bin and tree out for collection by 7:30 on your collection day to avoid disappointment.
- Any trees not collected in the collection times above will have to be collected as a bulky collection which will incur a charge so please be sure to have your trees out at the correct time.
Residents with Brown Bin Food/Garden Waste Collections
Garden/food waste collections are now all year round. Householders with this service can have their Christmas tree collected from their brown wheeled bin. Please ensure that the tree is cut down so that it fits in the bin with the lid closed flat.
All Residents
- Please note that the trees are being collected for composting so there will be two different vehicles emptying wheeled bins and collecting trees, these collections could be done at different times.
- Please ensure that your tree is at the kerbside for 7.30am. Any householder requiring their tree collected out with these dates will have to arrange for a bulky collection for which a charge will be made.
Recycling Centres
You can also recycle your Christmas tree at any of the Citys Recycling Centres:
- Greenbank Crescent, East Tullos
- Pitmedden Road, Dyce
- Perwinnes Moss, Scotstown Road
- Sclattie Disposal Works, Bankhead Avenue
Your Recycling Centres are open at the following times:
Mon - Fri 10.00am - 4.45pm
Sat - Sun 9.00am - 4.45pm
There is no additional recycling site at Hazledene road this year.
