Waste Team
The Collections team covers the entire city and looks after the collection of all household and commercial waste.
We provide a number of services such as:
- Special / Bulky Collections
- Business Waste
- Dry Recyclate
- Garden Waste Kerbside Collection
- Household Waste Collections
To give you an idea of the scale and size of our operations here is an idea of the number of collections we make in just one week.
Bulky uplift: We collect an average of 686 bulky uplift collections each week; this can be anything from old household furniture to a life size statue.
Business Waste: The council has approximately 2,700 customers from which we collect 6680 various sized wheeled bins per week.
Household bins: Each week the collections crews collect approximately 70,000 household wheeled bins
Kerbside Recycling: We collect black boxes and white bags from 76,000 households across the city all hand sorted by the crews at the kerbside.
Garden Waste: We collect 60,000 brown bins each week.
