Pass Plus Scheme
Congratulations from Aberdeen City Council!
Now that you have passed your test how would you like to save some money?
Aberdeen City Council will give you £45 when you complete the Pass Plus scheme.
- Pass Plus: Designed to improve your driving
- Pass Plus: Designed to give you valuable driving experience
- Pass Plus: Designed to go beyond the driving test
- Pass Plus: Designed to improve your confidence
- Pass Plus: Designed to reduce your chances of having an accident
- Pass Plus: Designed to save you money
Did you know that
- 1/4 of all car drivers involved in an injury accident in Aberdeen City are young or inexperienced drivers
- A driver aged 17 to 20 is six times more likely to be involved in an injury accident than a driver aged over 40.
- The probability of having an accident is reduced by 1/3 after only 1 years driving experience.
- 74 people were killed or injured in Aberdeen City in 2003 while travelling in a vehicle driven by a 17-25 year old. This does not include people in other vehicles involved in the same crash.
These are some of the reasons why Aberdeen City Council would like to encourage more new drivers to take part in the Pass Plus scheme.
It is also why more and more insurance companies are offering discounts for new drivers with a Pass Plus certificate.
Pass Plus is designed to raise driving standards and better equip new drivers to deal with the differing situations they are likely to meet after passing the driving test.
You should have received information on the Pass Plus scheme when you passed your test but further details can be obtained from the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) if necessary.
To get the £45 grant from Aberdeen City Council:
- You must live in Aberdeen
- You must have passed your test within the last 12 months
- You must complete the Pass Plus course of at least 6 sessions
- You must apply to Aberdeen City Council BEFORE starting the Pass Plus course
Please note that not all Approved Driving Instructors are registered to teach Pass Plus so you should check this out before applying. You can go to any registered Pass Plus instructor and do not have to stay with the instructor who took you through your driving test.
After approval of your applications, you will receive a voucher which you should keep in a safe place. When you complete the course, return the voucher to us with a COPY of your certificate. This must be the official DSA certificate - not your training report form. We will then send you a cheque for £45.
