Reporters Modifications to the Proposed Aberdeen Local Development Plan

Introduction

The Proposed Aberdeen Local Development Plan (as Modified 2012) was approved by Council on Wednesday 25 January 2012. In addition to this, Council have agreed to notify Scottish Ministers of the Aberdeen City Council's intention to agree to the modifications to the Plan and to adopt it with effect from 29 February 2012, unless directed otherwise by Scottish Ministers.

The Council received the Report into the Examination of the Proposed Aberdeen Local Development Plan from the Scottish Government Reporters on 21 December 2011. The Report recommended a number of modifications to the Proposed Plan that was approved by Full Council in August 2010. A copy of the Reporters Report is available on the City Council's website at:

Everyone who made a representation to the Proposed Aberdeen Local Development Plan will have received an official notification from the Directorate of Planning and Environmental Appeals. The Council has now made all modifications to the Proposed Aberdeen Local Development Plan resulting from the Examination. In order to formally adopt the Plan, a further series of notifications require to be carried out. This includes publishing a press advert, notifying people who made representations and sending the Plan as modified to Scottish Ministers. 28 days after this the Plan can be adopted unless directed not to by Scottish Ministers. The Council will also write to those who made representations again to let them know when the Plan is adopted.

The adoption of the Aberdeen Local Development Plan will not be the end of the process. There is a requirement to produce an action programme within three months of the Plan being adopted. This document will be aimed specifically at the delivery of the proposals and policies contained in the Aberdeen Local Development Plan. The action programme will include time scales for the delivery of key infrastructure and will be reviewed regularly taking into account changing circumstances.
