Contaminated Land
Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990,'Contaminated Land', was enacted in October 2001. This legislation requires the Local Authority to inspect it's area for potentially contaminated land. Sites are prioritised for detailed investigation and where contamination is found to be causing an unacceptable risk to human health or the wider environment, then the Local Authority will arrange for remediation.
All land that is officially designated as being contaminated as defined in the legislation, will be placed on a Public Register which can be viewed at the Council Offices.
