Introduction

Walkit.com is an innovative website which helps you map out walking routes across Aberdeen and into Aberdeenshire. It also calculates the savings you can make to your carbon footprint by walking compared to taking the car, taxi or bus.

Aberdeen is only the second Scottish city to sign up to the award-winning website aiming to get people walking more in and around their communities by helping them make more informed decisions about shorter urban journeys. The initiative is being supported by Nestrans, the Regional Transport Partnership.

Walkit.com allows visitors to generate a walking route between any two points in and around the city. Each route map includes a journey distance, the walking time (according to a slow, medium or fast walking pace), the calories that will be burned and even the amount of CO2 saved by avoiding fuel-burning transport.
