Community Cycling in Aberdeen
Introduction
The story so far
The Community Cycle Challenge is an exciting and innovative project developed by Aberdeen City Council (ACC) and Nestrans in order to help a local community deliver an increase in cycling trips across a defined project area.
Since January 2011 we have been working with Greenbrae School and consulting with residents and businesses in the catchment area (Denmore Park, Greenbrae, Dubford and Seaview) to look at ways in which the neighbourhood can be made more safe and pleasant for cyclists. This resulted in the publication of the Greenbrae Cycle Project Action Plan in September 2011.
Aberdeen City Council is now working to deliver the Action Plan with partners and with the ongoing support and advice of the local community.
Our first annual progress report, for work undertaken to March 2012, can be viewed at the following link:
How can I get involved . . .
The Action Plan will be built upon and refined during the life of the project, as we continue to gather the thoughts of those in the community so please feel free to send us your views on the Action Plan, especially if you feel that any significant route has been missed.
Although the focus of the project is on cycling trips, we would anticipate that any improvements to paths in the area will also benefit pedestrians, wheelchair users and those with buggies and prams.
