Aberdeen In Bloom

2007 winner, Denmore GardensAberdeen in Bloom is an initiative led by The City Council that aims to improve the environmental quality of the City for residents and visitors.  This is carried out by council staff and a number of local volunteer “In Bloom” groups across the city.

In Bloom Competitions

Aberdeen has been involved with the Britain in Bloom Competition since 1963 winning the Best Overall Trophy for the first time in 1965.  Since then Aberdeen has won both Britain in Bloom and Beautiful Scotland in Bloom trophies on numerous occasions.  Other Competitions include Nations in Bloom, World in Bloom and Communities in Bloom which Aberdeen entered for the first time in 2003 and won The International Large City Category twinned with Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Last year Aberdeen won the Beautiful Scotland city award along with the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society Trophy and the Best Floral Displays Award in the Communities in Bloom competition.

Aberdeen is to represent Scotland in the 2010 RHS Britain in Bloom finals.

Sponsored Floral Displays

Work with Aberdeen City Council to improve your city's environment.  Hanging baskets, window boxes and planters brighten up lamp columns, courtyards, railing and shop frontages on your business premises.

Those with business premises can opt to purchase hanging baskets and window boxes from Aberdeen City Council, who will erect and maintain them throughout the season.  Summer, winter and spring displays can be provided.
