Legal and Democratic Services
Solicitors in the Legal and Democratic Office act for the Council in conveyancing transactions, in litigation before courts and tribunals and in public inquiries, in various statutory and appeal processes, and in negotiating and concluding contracts and procurement of goods and services.
They provide legal advice and support to the Licensing Board and Licensing Committee. They also advise in relation to Governance and general Policy matters. They have a solicitor client relationship with colleagues in other services and take the lead in service delivery matters.
The Council's solicitors cannot provide legal advice to members of the public or other third parties. If you need legal advice or representation then you should contact the Citizen's Advice Bureau Scotland or the Law Society of Scotland.

Committee and Members' Services
The Committee team provides a clerking service to the Council and its Committees, Sub Committees and Working Groups, as well as to a number of partner organisations. More information on these Committees and Groups can be found here.
The team also provides some support in respect of the Children's Panel and Community Council's.
The Members' Services team provides support to the Council's elected members, which includes members' enquiries.
