Obtaining your Birth Certificate
How to obtain a birth certificate.
If you were born in Scotland and you were not adopted you can obtain a full certified extract of your birth certificate from the Registrars at a cost of £15.
Birth certificates can be obtained by either calling in to our office at Marischal College (Open Monday-Friday 08:30-17:00) or calling the office on 01224 522616 and paying with a debit or credit card and it will be posted to you.
Alternatively, you can also obtain your birth certificate by sending a cheque or postal order. Please make any cheques or postal orders payable to Aberdeen City Council.
If you are visiting in person to obtain your birth certificate, if you can show the abbreviated version or another copy of the full certificate, you will receive the full certified extract for £10 instead of £15.
If you were adopted in Scotland you can obtain your birth certificate by calling the General Register Office for Scotland on 0131 314 4411.
