Office of Chief Executive

Chief Executive

The Office of Chief Executive has ultimate responsibility for the delivery of council services, providing advice and support to individual councillors and to the council as a whole.

The main function is to provide leadership and vision in developing the strategic direction of the council whilst managing the overall business to ensure strategic and business plans are effectively implemented, that results are monitored and reported to council, and that financial and operational objectives are maintained.

Social Care and Wellbeing

Director of Social Care & Wellbeing Fred Mcbride Fred McBride, Director of Social Care and Wellbeing

Social Care and Wellbeing has a remit which spans children's and adult services along with older people and rehabilitation and our aspirations for the people we serve and for our workforce are high.

We're in the process of implementing an ambitious redesign of the service which will streamline access to services and keep people at the centre, by shifting the balance of care towards personalised, modern services in partnership with the people who use our services, their families and carers. Our frontline staff are our most important resource, and we're investing in training and support so that they're able to meet the challenges of delivering social work and social care services to people in Aberdeen.

Education, Culture and Sport

Director of Education, Culture & Sport Annette Bruton Annette Bruton, Director of Education, Culture and Sport

The Education, Culture and Sport directorate has a focus on lifelong learning with best possible outcomes for children, young people and adult learners at the heart of what we aim to achieve.

Our goal is to provide high quality education for all our learners through quality learning and teaching and a revised curriculum experience for all our children. Community learning, arts and culture, heritage and libraries play a key part in the life of the people of Aberdeen and attract visitors to the city. Our plans to deliver much of our sports provision within Aberdeen through a trust are well advanced.
