Do you provide storage for furniture and belongings?
For those facing homelessness and unable to safeguard their furniture and household goods, the Council is able to arrange uplift and storage. It is important to advise the Homelessness Section of this requirement at the earliest opportunity. Applicants are asked to provide an accurate list of their belongings, pack and secure loose items, defrost fridge/freezers, disconnect white goods, lift and roll floor coverings etc. The Homelessness Officer should be notified of any help needed. Any documents or items required while staying in temporary accommodation should be packed and retained. Depending on an ability to pay, the Council may seek a contribution towards this service.
Furniture may remain in storage until the Council has met its statutory duties to the homeless person. At the end of the storage period, it will be delivered to a nominated address.
