Home Energy Team

Aberdeen City Council's, Home Energy Team was created as part of the Council's Home Energy Strategy after the introduction of the UK government's Home Energy Conservation Act 1995 - known as HECA.

The Team can provide information on home energy efficiency projects in Aberdeen, covering all tenure types.

Scarf is a social enterprise, based in Aberdeen, that delivers free advice to householders and businesses including advice on how to reduce heating costs. 

Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT) from Scarf

The Home Energy Advice Team (HEAT) from Scarf is funded by Aberdeen City Council to provide free, impartial energy efficiency advice and information to the citizens of Aberdeen.
The service provided includes-

Advice on:

  • achieving affordable warmth
  • help with fuel bill issues
  • advice on choosing a fuel supplier
  • energy efficiency grants and offers HEAT
  • dampness and condensation

Home visits to:

  • provide heating use demo
  • set programmers/timers
  • use of controls
  • assess property for energy efficiency improvement
  • assess dampness and condensation problems

If you are not sure where to invest in your home, call HEAT on 0808 129 0888 for advice or to arrange a free home visit. They will then provide you with a guide of which energy efficiency measures to install in your home to gain the maximum savings from the budget you have available.

Home Energy ScotlandHome Energy Advice

Home Energy Scotland is funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by Scarf under contract to the Energy Saving Trust.
The advice centre is part of a network of 5 area based centres across Scotland.
The centre provides a telephone advice service on energy efficiency measures in the home.
They can also advise on your eligibility for energy efficiency offers from the Scottish Government and process your application if eligible.
