Home Energy Team

Aberdeen City Council's, Home Energy Team was created as part of the Council's Home Energy Strategy (see Home Energy Conservation Act).

The Team can provide information on home energy efficiency projects in Aberdeen, covering all tenure types.

Aberdeen City Home Energy Advice Service

SCARF (Save Cash and Reduce Fuel) is funded by Aberdeen City Council to provide free, impartial energy efficiency advice and information advice service to the citizens of Aberdeen. The service provided includes:

Advice on

  • achieving Affordable Warmth
  • help with fuel bill issues
  • advice on choosing a fuel supplier,
  • energy efficiency grants and offers
  • dampness and condensation

Home visits to

  • provide heating use demo,
  • set programmers/timers,
  • use of controls
  • assess property for energy efficiency improvements,
  • assess dampness and condensation problems


If you are not sure where to invest in your home, call SCARF on 01224 213005 for a free DIY Home Energy Survey. They will then provide you with a guide of which energy efficiency products to install in your home to gain the maximum savings from the budget you have available.

Energy Saving Scotland Advice Centre north east

The Energy Savings Scotland Advice Centre North East (ESSAC-ne) is a government funded home energy advice agency. The Centre is part of a network 5 area based ESSAC's across Scotland, and the North East centre is managed by SCARF, on behalf of Energy Savings Trust Scotland. The centre provides a telephone advice service on energy efficiency measures in the home. They can also advise on your eligibility for the Scottish Governments Energy Assistance Package, and process your application if eligible. They can be contacted by telephone 0800 512012 on weekdays from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm or e-mail them at info@scarf.org.uk

Energy Savings Trust

The Energy Saving Trust (EST) was established as part of the Government's action plan in response to the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro which addressed world-wide concerns on environmental issues such as climate change. The Energy_Saving_Trust_Logo main objective of the Trust is to improve the efficient use of all forms of energy in the UK, leading to an overall reduction in its consequential environmental impact. The Trust intends its activities to bring economic benefits to I individual consumers and to the nation as a whole. The EST fund and manage a network of energy efficiency advice centres across the UK, with EST Scotland overseeing the Energy Saving Scotland advice centre network.
