Housing Association and Co-operatives Tenants
The Council's Home Energy Team has a rolling programme of work in partnership with the other Social Registered Landlords in the City aimed at improving the energy efficiency of their stock. Energy audits of their stock are being carried out through the Council and assistance given to access available grant funding to carry out required energy efficiency measures as identified through these audits. Other recommended measures which cannot be grant funded are being included in the cyclical maintenance programmes of the Housing Associations and Co-operatives, so ensuring that over a 6-7 year period this section of the City's housing stock will reach a standard which ensures Affordable Warmth for all of their tenants.
By the end of March 2003, initial energy audits have been completed on the stock of Castlehill Housing Association, Grampian Housing Association, Tenants First Housing Co-operative, Margaret Blackwood Housing Association and the Soroptomists' properties in Aberdeen. We aim to complete the energy audit of the remainder of this sector, that is the stock of Langstane Housing Association and Ark Housing Association, within the next 2 years.
Based on the findings of the completed energy audits, a programme of energy saving works has started. We have secured grant funding from Scottish Power's Energy Efficiency Commitment (EEC) monies to assist the Social Registered Landlords in the City cover a proportion of the cost of these improvements. Also some of the costs will be covered by government grants, and the balance will be paid for by the landlords.
