Local Housing Strategy

Aberdeen City Council is pleased to advise that the Draft Aberdeen City Local Housing Strategy (LHS), which covers the years 2012/2017 is now available for consultation.

The draft LHS sets out the priorities and actions under eight key themes and covers a wide range of housing and related issues across all tenures. It is built on the strong foundation provided by the Council's first LHS and has been developed to take account of the progress already made in meeting housing needs in Aberdeen City, the changing national and local policy context and the new and emerging housing challenges.

Based on new guidance, the Council is no longer required to prepare separate strategies for homelessness, housing support and fuel poverty, but needs to ensure that the scope of the LHS will address housing need and demand, regeneration, prevention and alleviation of homelessness, meeting particular housing needs, housing quality/fuel poverty issues and housing conditions.

Consultation has taken place with a range of stakeholders during the various stages of the development process. The comments and contributions made have been invaluable in preparing the strategy. We hope that as many people as possible take this further opportunity to comment on the direction we propose for the future of housing in Aberdeen City.  You can view the LHS through the links below:
