Centre Based Activities & Street Work

The Centre Based Activities & Street Work programme encompasses the four capacities of the Curriculum for Excellence:

  • Successful Learners;
  • Confident Individuals;
  • Responsible Citizens;
  • Effective Contributors.

Our Centre based group will allow young people to access positive learning environments to develop skills, confidence and self-esteem.

Centre-based programmes will be accessible to all, but will have a focus on:

  • 11-19 year olds;
  • Transition groups;
  • Health and well-being;
  • Arts & Creativity;
  • LGBT;
  • Accreditation - DYA/YAA.

Our Street Work Project enables workers to hear and respond to what young people themselves identify as their wants and needs.  Key partners such as Drugs Action, City Wardens, Grampian Fire and Rescue Service and Square 13 can also pay a key role in Street Work.

Some of our short-term Street Work Project outcomes are:

  • To build relationships with young people;
  • To increase knowledge in young people in relation to drugs, alcohol, sexual health etc.
  • To engage with those young people most at risk of drug/alcohol misuse, anti-social behaviours, offending;
  • To increase self-confidence and self-esteem of young people.

Our long term aim is:

  • To reduce risk-taking behaviour, including drug and alcohol use, anti-social behaviour, offending;
  • To increase community engagement, promote citizenship and positive lifestyle changes.
