How can we help you...

Instrumental Music Service

Aberdeen Music Service works across the city to provide high quality musical opportunities available to all children and young people.

The core of the work of the Music Service is instrumental tuition in a range of instruments in every school. This is delivered by almost fifty music instructors who have individual specialisms enabling us to offer tuition on the full range of orchestral instruments, voice, guitar and bagpipes.

The Music Service does charge fees for instrumental lessons however free lessons are offered to children whose families receive certain benefits and there are also sibling discounts available.

Alongside offering instrumental tuition, instructors also run many school orchestras and ensembles in both primary and secondary schools. Pupils are also invited to attend one of our many Music Centre activities which runs throughout the week.

We also run many school based ensembles which are particularly successful in national competitions and are renowned for their high standard of performance. Senior pupils are invited to audition for the Aberdeen Youth Orchestra which is one of our flagship ensembles.
