Educational Psychology Service Training

Introduction

Aberdeen City Council Educational Psychology Service is continuing to develop its training role, as one of its core functions.This work is negotiated and carried out at the authority level and establishment level, as well as at the level of child and family.Training opportunities involving the Educational Psychology Service would be based upon identified needs within establishment and authority development plans.

Examples of recent and current training include:

Introduction to dynamic assessment

Philosophy for children – training for teachers

Mediated learning – training for teachers

Bright Start – cognitive curriculum for young children

Solution focused training to aid mentoring within a secondary school

Generic training for pupil support assistants across the authority (helping children learn/behaviour management)

VIG training to enhance communication skills in teachers, pupil support assistants and pupils (linking with Aberdeenshire and Moray)

Awareness raising about the role of the Educational Psychology Service (e.g. for probationer teachers)

Anger management training for school staff, pupil support assistants and pupils

Inclusive play project training

Parenting groups
