Educational Psychology Service Research

Introduction

Aberdeen City Council Educational Psychology Service is developing its research role, as one of its core functions. This work is negotiated and carried out at the authority level, as well as at the school level. Research would be based upon an identified agreed need for investigation.

What is research?

  • Educational Psychology Service research seeks to answer questions of relevance to educational and other authority staff, of benefit to children and young people.
  • This research aims to work alongside teachers and other personnel, as reflective practitioners, in gathering information in a planned and systematic way.
  • As well as exploring new ideas, research can help evaluate practice and procedures, provide evidence about what is working well, and inform policy. It also helps with the sharing of good practice.
  • Assistants for Research work as part of the team alongside Educational Psychologists, to support research work through data collection and analysis, and reporting.
