Family History
Family History in the Archives
Family history is more than just a list of names and dates, and Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire Archives hold many records which can be used not only to trace your family in the North East of Scotland, but also to flesh out the story. This area explains what these records are, which office they are held in, how they can be used, and how they can help you. This information expands on our Family History Sources Leaflet.
This section is in the process of being updated, but will focus on the following types of records:
- Burial Records
- Church Records (including non Church of Scotland records)
- Electoral Rolls
- Valuation Rolls
- Poor Relief Records
- Education and School Records
- Burgh Records
- Tax Lists
In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us with any queries you may have while the page is under construction.
