Poor Relief Records

Dating from 1845 to 1930 the records of the parochial boards and parish councils cover Aberdeenshire, Banffshire, Kincardineshire and Morayshire and this list shows which individual parishes are covered.  The records include applications for relief, inspectors' records, minute books and registers of guardians.  Indexes to many of the records are available in our Old Aberdeen House office and at the  Aberdeen and North East Scotland Family History Society shop.  The records are held at our Old Aberdeen House office.  Please note that access to some records under 100 years old may be restricted under the Data Protection Act.  Please contact us for further information.
