Adult Lending Reception Area Refurbishment!

Work in Adult Lending is now complete and we are open for business as usual.

You will notice a big difference the next time you come through the front door with a brand new reception area which includes self service machines and a new Enquiry desk.

Soutar Writing Prize 2012

This is an annual competition now in its tenth year, alternating between poetry and short stories. For 2012, short stories may be entered. Entry is free and open to anyone, but you are limited to two short stories. The closing date is Monday 18th June 2012. Full details on the Soutar Prize 2012 website.

First Prize
An Arvon Writing course at Moniack Mhor (for which the normal fee would be approximately £600), or another of the UK Arvon Centres. The winner will be announced on Writers’ Day, Saturday 25 August 2012, at the AK Bell Library.

Second Prize
£100 Book Tokens.

Aberdeen City Libraries are delighted to announce the launch  of our download service for eBooks and Audiobooks. All you need is an internet connection and a library card to be able to download titles 24/7 from the comfort of your own home.

 Who Next? can help you, if your children have enjoyed books by a particular writer, to find new books to try by suggesting alternative titles by other authors. There are various ways of searching - by author, age group, genre and theme. Details of children's book awards are also listed.

  

  

'Who Else Writes Like' is now available for the first time online and is designed to help anyone who enjoys reading fiction to expand the number of writers they read. It is designed to answer the perennial question "I've read all the books by my favourite authors, who shall I read next?"
