Reading Bus takes Yer Majesty on the road
06/10/08
Pupils from Hanover Street School will be performing dramatised readings of some of the poems featured in Fit Like, Yer Majesty at a special sales event this week.
The youngsters will join the Reading Bus team and storyteller, poet and author Sheena Blackhall at Tesco Extra, Danestone from 10am - 1pm on Friday [10 October].
They will be promoting the book of Doric verse, which has sold over 1,000 copies since it was launched last month.
The 47 poems in Fit Like, Yer Majesty? have been penned by scrievers aged 14 92 from throughout Scotland.
Renowned artist Bob Dewar has produced 59 vibrant illustrations to complement the poems.
Orders for the book, which costs £6.99, have been pouring in from across the UK.
This initiative is being led by Aberdeen City Councils Reading Bus, in partnership with Aberdeenshire Council, Moray Council and the University of Aberdeen.
The Reading Bus team, together with cross-agency partners, has developed a comprehensive series of learning experiences to complement the poems and their vibrant illustrations. These approaches use a variety of tools including storytelling, film animation, broadcasting, dramatisation and film making.
