Community forum scoops award

The Northfield Area Forum has won top award following work carried out at Allan Douglas Park.

The group scooped the Nancy Ovens Trust Award – Best Community Award for Play category – after refurbishing the virtually unused space.

After consulting local youngsters the forum built a bike and skateboard park along with a multi-game court.

Councillor Gordon Graham is delighted with the news. He said: “I would like to congratulate Northfield Forum for their hard work that led to the achievement of this award and look forward to working with them and Northfield Community Council to bring further improvements to Allan Douglas Park and the greater Northfield area.”

Councillor Jackie Dunbar added: “The park is brilliant and the local youngsters are using it all the time. This is a great example of the community working together to improve the facilities in their area.”
