City centre utilities work completed a month ahead of schedule
07/10/08
Work to lay high voltage cables from a city centre power station to the new retail development at Guild Street has been completed well ahead of schedule.
Scottish and Southern Energy was carrying out the work from the power station at Mearns Street, along Commerce Street, Virginia Street and Market Street, to the new development.
It had been expected that it would take 12 weeks for the work to be completed, but the firm has finished it in just eight weeks.
This is largely due to Scottish and Southern Energys commitment to get the work completed in the shortest time possible and deploying extra resources to achieve this and cause as little disruption to motorists as possible.
