Middlefield Community Hub

After a year of construction the £2.6million refurbishment and extension to the former Lord Provost Henry E Rae Community Centre was complete and the keys to the new Middlefield Community Hub were handed to community groups on 13 January 2017.

The new centre is the largest of it's kind in Aberdeen. It includes a multi-use games area, a purpose built community health centre, a state-of-the-art nursery as well as an area for youth work and a community café.

Aberdeen City Council is investing £13million in a major development of 99 modern homes at the former Smithfield Primary Smithfield Housing Development School site in Middlefield.

The Smithfield development will offer a mix of homes including semi-detached and detached properties of up to 4 bedrooms and one and two bedroom flats. The first tenants are expected to move in during summer 2017.

In September 2016 work began on a £13.5 million council housing development at Manor Walk. The former playing fields site in  Middlefield will be home to 80 new Council properties and will feature a mixture of flats and houses.

Both developments will be joined up to Aberdeen City Council's Combined Heat and Power Scheme which has proven immensely successful in tackling fuel poverty and reducing carbon omissions.
