A new initiative has been launched to help provide a secure future for the youth of Aberdeen.
Aberdeen Guarantees will bring together a range of approaches for all 14 to 25 year olds. If you are still at school, approaching the end of your school days or if you have already left then Aberdeen Guarantees will help support you. Aberdeen Guarantees will aid you with the move into further education, training, and employment.
Aberdeen Guarantees is building on the work already done to reduce the number of unemployed young people in the city.
Councillor Jenny Laing and Aberdeen City Council Chief Executive Angela Scott have signed a pledge on behalf of the authority, promising a range of support for young people, including:
- provision of modern apprenticeships;
- inform students, parents and teachers about the job market and skills required in the city; and
- participate in careers fairs.
The council is now calling on organisations of all sizes across the city to follow suit and provide what support they can to the city's youth.
The scheme will also advertise new training and work opportunities for young people and promote youth-employment related activity to young people, parents, carers, professionals and employers.
