Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils - Consultation
Aberdeen City Council are currently reviewing the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils. The Local Government Scotland Act 1973 requires any amendments to the Scheme to be advertised locally to seek representations from members of the public. The consultation ends on Friday 10 February 2012.
Community councils are elected every three years to find out, co-ordinate and express the views of local people to the council and other public organisations working in the area. They are made up of people who live in local areas. As a council, we must consult community councils on planning applications.
Community councils are set up under a scheme called the Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils in Aberdeen which shows:
- the area each community council covers
- how the community councils should operate and
- how community councillors should be elected
Please note that the maps for each of the areas are available on request by contacting the Community Council Liaison Officer or by viewing them at any library or community centre within Aberdeen City.
