Syrian New Scots Donation Information

There are many ways that you can contribute to the resettlement of Syrian refugees currently living in Aberdeen, or those that we will be welcoming in the near future.

Resettlement Fund

A simple way that you can contribute to resettling Syrian New Scots in Aberdeen is by donating money.A corporate donation account or 'Resettlement Fund' has been set up with North East Scotland Credit Union (NESCU) and is overseen by representatives of the Church of Scotland and the Aberdeen City Partner Refugee Group.

Individuals or families resettled in Aberdeen under the Syrian Resettlement Programme can apply for donations directly to this fund, or with the help of their Support Officer.

The fund will support applications for the following:

Essential items/equipment      Transport Subsidy      Employability Support

Emergency Costs                 Health Improvement    Cultural & integration projects

Connectivity costs (initial)        Family Learning         Education & training

The Resettlement Fund will not be used to pay regular bills, for non-essential items (unless they meet one of the criteria above), home decoration, personal entertainment or for anything that would duplicate existing or mainstream services.

You can also send a cheque payment but the cheque must be made payable to NESCU and the reference number and your surname should be written on the reverse of the cheque.

Furniture, equipment, toys & clothing

If you have furniture, equipment, toys and/or clothing that you would like to donate, please contact Alana Nabulsi on We have limited storage capacity to hold items donated to assist families therefore we will only make requests for specific items as and when they are identified as being needed.You may wish to donate items to other vulnerable and needy groups and there are several fantastic local charities that may be able to assist you.

Food, drinks & toiletries

Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE) are coordinating donations of food, drinks and toiletries to families.If you would like to donate, please contact CFINE on 01224 596156 or

If you are unsure if food items you wish to purchase or donate are Halal, all food items suitable for a vegetarian will also be suitable for our Syrian New Scots families.
