Social Work Complaints Review Committee

Appointment of Independent Chairpersons and Members to join the Council's Social Work Complaints Review Committee

The Social Work Complaints Review Committee meets as and when required to consider complaints relating to the Council's social work function. There is a statutory requirement for local authorities to have a Complaints Review Committee in place.

Aberdeen City Council would like to invite applications from volunteers with knowledge of social work matters or review body or tribunal experience to join the existing pool of Complaints Review Committee members.  Role profiles are available to view here - Chairperson and Panel Member.  Please note that these are not paid positions, although travelling expenses will be reimbursed.

As well as additional members of the pool, Aberdeen City Council are also looking to recruit additional Chairpersons, who would need to have both knowledge of social work matters and review body or tribunal experience, as well as satisfying the following criteria:-

  • The applicant (or their spouse/partner) should not currently be, or have been within the past 12 months, an official of any local authority;
  • The applicant (or their spouse/partner) should not currently be, or have been in the past 12 months, an elected member of the ruling group of Aberdeen City Council;
  • The applicant (or their spouse/partner) should not currently be employed by an organisation to which Aberdeen City Council has delegated any of its social work functions.

Training will be provided and all successful applicants will require to go through a PVG check prior to appointments being confirmed.

For more information or if you would like to apply to become a Member or Chairperson of the Complaints Review Committee, please complete an application form and return it to the address below.  Alternatively, if you wish to submit it by email, you can send it to committeeservices@aberdeencity.gov.uk.  You will also need to complete a criminal conviction form and a Diversity and Equalities Monitoring Form.

This is an open advert with no closing date, and we will consider applications as and when they are submitted.

If you would like any further information on the roles and what is involved in becoming a CRC member or Chair, you can use the committeeservices@aberdeencity.gov.uk email address, or call (01224) 522503.
