Johnston Gardens is a beautifully peaceful hidden gem of a garden s et in the west end of Aberdeen. The one hectare site was gifted to the City in 1936 and has streams, waterfalls, ponds, rockeries and rustic bridge. The garden is planted with rhododendrons, spring bulbs, heathers and alpines. And the ponds are full of irises and home to a number of aylesbury, mallard and muscovy ducks.
This restful and tranquil spot is the location for the Expro Memorial which commemorates the 16 men lost in a helicopter crash in the North Sea on the 1st of April 2009.
The fine colours of the garden make it popular for bridal parties to take memorable wedding photographs.
A small play area provides stimulation and activity for little children.
A core path (click here) joins Johnston Gardens to the rest of the network within the City.
