Retail Scheme
How does it work?
Central to the success of the initiative is the flow of information. Members of the Safer Aberdeen Retail Scheme keep information circulating and up to date. This is done by completing incident and offender reporting forms. The forms have been designed to be filled in speedily with a majority of details recorded in tick boxes.
These forms are then passed to the Safer Aberdeen Programme Managers office for the information and images to be entered onto a national database. Regular bulletins and newsletters are produced from this information and intelligence and are then circulated to all members.
What Safer Aberdeen can do for you?
"We have a well established partnership with the Safer Aberdeen team who continue to provide a significant contribution to security and safety across the city. The information they produce is circulated to city centre businesses and has proved invaluable on countless occasions in the detection of crime.
The Radio Link has resulted in a more cohesive approach in tackling crime in the city centre where businesses can update the Police direct about an incident as it happens.
The success of the Safer Aberdeen initiative is due to its excellent partnership approach, drawing together businesses and other services from across the city in working together to make Aberdeen a safer place.
This joined-up approach ensures that Aberdeen city centre remains an unattractive destination for criminals to come to because of the targeted policing, the extensive CCTV coverage and the businesses who are informed and linked together in tackling crime"
- Iain MacLelland, Grampian Police
