Begging Boxes
Give a hand UP not a hand OUT
Previous research has shown that one of the main reasons for begging is to fund drug and alcohol addiction. Many people who beg are not actually homeless or sleeping rough. The Aberdeen Begging Box Scheme supports projects working for homeless people in the city to help move them away from life on the streets.
The best way you can help people who street beg in Aberdeen is to donate to a box. 100% of all donations go to organisations that help people in genuine need.
Initiative Aim
To get beggars off the streets and help those in genuine need secure a more sustainable future. The initiative is also aimed at encouraging givers to think about giving directly to recognised charities by giving through the begging box scheme.
Locations of Begging Boxes
