Aberdeen Art Gallery presents a major exhibition of work by one of Scotland's most highly regarded artists, Frances Walker, in celebration of her 80th birthday. This marks the first public showing works from all periods of the artist's prodigious career and showcases her most recent work - a series of breathtaking panoramic landscapes of the Antarctic. It is supported by the Scottish Arts Council and friends of Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museums. Frances Walker's travel to Antarctica was assisted by the James McBey Travel Award.

An intimate showcase celebrating one of Scotland's most treasured artists. Frances Walker was a founding member of Peacock Printmakers and has continued to produce work at Peacock over the past four decades. The exhibition will feature a variety of old and new; etchings and prints; plus a rare opportunity to view a selection of the artist's sketchbooks and drawings.
The exhibitions are complemented by a new book about the artist and a documentary film made by Peacock Visual Arts.
Workshops
The Arts Development team will be working with Aberdeen Art Gallery and Peacock Visual Arts to deliver a series of workshops and events to mark the exhibition and celebrate one of our most respected and renowned artists. The workshops listed below are open to all levels and booked through WhiteSpace on (01224) 523640.
Arctic and Antarctic - Landscape painting workshop
This three-day workshop takes inspiration from Frances Walker's most recent work. One of our tutors will guide you through the range of techniques and disciplines used by the artist to create your own perfect landscape.
Wednesday - Friday; February 17 - 19, 10am- 12noon and 1- 3pm

Horizons-Printmaking workshop
This three-day workshop takes inspiration from some of Frances Walker's best known prints. One of our tutors will guide you through the range of techniques and disciplines used by the artist to create your own print.
