A New Light

Spectra returns to Aberdeen City Centre in February 2017.

Running for four nights between the 9th– 12th February 2017 SPECTRA,Aberdeen's stunning Festival of Light, will return to celebrate the ScottishYear of History, Heritage and Archaeology exploring Aberdeen's past throughthis year's theme "A New Light".

Bringing together leading international artistswith established Scottish collaborators the festival will deliver a four day lightspectacular to once again animate Union Terrace Gardens, the Kirk of St NicholasGraveyard, Seventeen and Marischal College.

Featuring major public realm and gallery installations alongside newexperimental works from the North East's creative community the festivalwill enliven the city and celebrate Aberdeen's creative past, present andfuture. Inviting audiences to engage with playful, accessible and high qualityperformances, spaces and works of art that marry light, sound and interactiveexperiences SPECTRA 2017 will be an exciting family event bringing light to thedepths of winter.


Admission is free at all SPECTRA locations.
